Through my writing for the ethical fashion brand BIBICO‘s blog, I’ve discovered many benefits of wool I hadn’t previously known; and what better time to share these with you than national wool week?!

Now of course there are some issues surrounding the raising of sheep for wool, and much of the wool we use comes from sheep reared for meat which has ethical implications, but there are also many sustainability-related benefits of the natural fibre which are worth exploring.

World Economic Forum Global Risks Report 2016

The World Economic Forum (WEF) have just released their 2016 Global Risks Report, identifying failure of climate change mitigation and adaptation as the greatest global risk in terms of impacts. They define global risks as uncertain events or conditions that could cause significant negative impacts for several countries or industries within the next 10 years. Scientists caution that a total warming of 2°C implies a high risk of catastrophic climate change that could damage human well-being on a global scale. Even if countries meet the INDC plans they agreed to at COP21 (read more here), warming could still reach 2.7°C by 2100. The WEF are calling for action to build resilience.
