Vegan donuts are quickly becoming the dairy-free delight all conscious consumers want to get their hands on. With more and more bakeries opening up, it really is hard to resist! Their sweet, fluffy texture, and the many different flavours to choose from, make them the perfect treat to cure your sugar cravings. They also make great gifts for all ages, and are a favourite party food. So donut miss out on all the sugary goodness and read my guide to the best vegan donut-eries in London:

1. Ruby’s of London

This award-winning, vegan patisserie specializes in products free from wheat, gluten and sugars. Ruby’s love for baking began at a very early age, with many of her childhood memories made in the kitchen. Due to a childhood dairy and egg allergy, she was often left with the uninspiring free from option, while looking longingly at the birthday girls glorious cakes. Starting up selling vegan treats in Greenwich market, Ruby’s business quickly expanded, and in 2010 she won a Slow Food Bursary. She was later awarded the British Baker Product Innovation Award in 2013, alongside some of the best bakers in the country.

I found Ruby’s of London about a month ago in Spitafield’s market, and have gone back almost every weekend since! The vegan donuts are to-die-for, coming in a variety of beautifully hand-decorated flavours like rose pistachio and hazelnut crunch. They also offer heart-shaped donuts and…wait for it… donut cupcakes!! The donut cupcake is the most dreamy vegan delight, great for a special occasion.

2. Nom Nom

Nomnom started with a personal diagnosis of multiple food sensitivities in 2001. Fast forward to 2011 with a trip to New York, Angela was inspired by how many choices there were for those with special dietary requirements. She created Nomnom to create fresh baked goods for people who hadn’t walked into a bakery in many years, perhaps even their whole life, so that they might experience that gorgeous sensory treat that is the warmth, smell and taste of freshly baked breads and cakes.

The small family business is based in Hampstead and creates gluten, yeast, egg, dairy and sugar free baked goods. Their delicious donuts are made to order, and Angela is more than happy to remove nuts and soya if you’d prefer.

3. Pomodoro E Basilico

Sara, a trained Italian chef, started running market stalls last year, selling either hot vegan pizza slices, vegan homemade burgers, or vegan donuts. Backed by popular demand, she is now trading every weekend at the Boiler House in Shoreditch. Her vegan donuts are best sellers on Etsy, and a favourite at festivals like VegFest.
Sara is also keen to give back, and as part of National Donut Week in May 2015, she donated part of the profit to the Children’s Trust. Her vegan donut are the perfect naughty-but-nice treat to indulge in over the weekend.

Established in 2010, Cookies and Scream is multi-award winning, fully vegan and gluten free bakery in Camden Town. Every product is dairy, egg, wheat and gluten free, and all bakes are low fat, low cholesterol and made with unrefined sugars.
It’s a small family run business and a very busy bakery! Their oven baked donuts are made using fruit and light flours to give them a beautifully moist and soft texture.
