Valentine’s Day Gift Guide for an Eco Guy

vday guy 1.pngValentine’s Day is a time for you and your partner to celebrate your relationship and be happy together. It is more important you show your loved one you appreciate them with little things; like meeting them from work or cooking their favourite meal. As great as gifts can be, do you really want to fill your boyfriend’s bedroom with things he doesn’t need? But, if you do think he deserves a little something extra this year, I’ve got you covered. Whether it’s you or him that wants to shop consciously, here’s my guilt-free Valentine’s Day gift guide to inspire:

Grooming that Gives Back

Gift 2 is Dr Jackson’s Day Skin Cream. Dr Jackson’s aims to be an ethical business by not testing on animals, aiming to completely eliminate its carbon footprint, and supporting indigenous and local communities by creating sustainable jobs and conservation education programmes.

Gift 3 is The Body Shop’s wooden shaving brush. At just £7 it is a bargain and it has great reviews! The Body Shop sources fine raw ingredients and accessories with a commitment to trade fairly with small-scale farmers, traditional artisans and rural co-operatives.

Conscious Clothing

Help him continue to conquer the cold with some great winter warmers from eco-friendly brands:

Gift 1 is Cock & Bull’s Red Wine Organic Cotton Corduroy Shirt. Cock & Bull Menswear is committed to ensuring all materials are 100% vegetarian and are produced without the use of forced, slave or child labour. Where natural (non-synthetic) textiles are used, at least 70% must have been grown to organic standards.

Gift 6 is a Matt & Nat men’s wallet. Matt & Nat experiment with different recycled and vegan materials. Since 2007, their linings have been made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. They try to opt for PU leather as is less harmful to the environment than PVC.

Gift 8 are Marks & Spencer Luxury Cotton Socks. Marks & Spencer is considered one of the only global, ethical high street brands. Their sustainability initiative, Plan A, sets out ethical and environmental goals. Having achieved their 2007 aim of making their UK business carbon neutral, they now wish to become the world’s most sustainable major retailer.

Coffee and Chocolate Connoisseurs

Gift 4 is Conscious Chocolate’s Raucous Rum and Raisin bar. The organic raw chocolate is made with Rum soaked raisins and sultanas, and is sweetened with agave syrup. The bars are wrapped by hand with biodegradable and compostable packaging.

Gift 9 is roast and ground Source Climate Change coffee. Source is currently the only conservation-led coffee company founded to protect the world’s forests. Each bag has a unique tracking number to show the farmer’s on-going conservation efforts at the cloud forest of origin. All Source coffees are offset using reforestation carbon credits and are 100% traceable to the forest community conservation project.

Gift 11 is 33 Beers, a journal to quickly note down a beer’s unique flavour. It is made with 100% recycled papers and printed using soy-based inks. A teeny, tiny amount of real beer is added also to the ink in each new edition!

Gift 12 are Adnams beers. Adnams micro distillery is based in Southwold with a strong focus on operating in a sustainable manner. They collect their waste liquid and pass it through their Anaerobic Digester to make green methane gas, which then goes into the main grid supply network after meeting their own gas needs.
