Matt & Nat offer a wide range of beautifully crafted vegan bags and accessories in all shapes and sizes. The creators were inspired by MAT(T)erial and NATure, and exploring the synergy between the two. Their moto, Live beautifully, refers to their appreciation of the humanity, creativity and positivity found in all of us.
Matt & Nat are dedicated to operating in the most sustainable and environmentally-friendly way they can. They experiment with different recycled materials such as recycled nylons, cardboard, rubber and cork. Since 2007, the company has been committed to using linings only made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles. Approximately 21 plastic bottles are recycled for every bag they produce!
As a vegan brand, no animal products are used anywhere in production. In 2010, the UN reported that the best way to protect the environment is to adopt a vegan/vegetarian diet, given the harmful effects of factory farming. Various vegan leathers are used in production, the scientific terms are PU (polyurethane) and PVC (polyvinylchloride). PU is less harmful for the environment than PVC and they make it a point to use it whenever possible.
Matt & Nat also encourage upcycling. If you haven’t used it in the last six months, someone else can! They suggest you donate your unwanted bags to dressforsuccess.org.
So if you want a more environmentally-friendly, cruelty-free bag, look no further! Here are my top picks:
